A big thanks to all of you who recently voted. I was aiming for 100 votes but actually got 181. And consequently I donated £100 to Haiti relief, so thanks again !

Anyway the clear and outright winner with 54 votes was Ayla and Ian’s image from their wedding at Kelmarsh Hall in September.

2nd place was Lydie and Noah’s image with 35 votes from their wedding at The Bingham Hotel in Richmond last February.

3rd place was Frankie and Andy’s image with 32 votes from their wedding at Bray Hockey & Cricket Club in April.

So congratulations to all three couples who’ll be receiving their gift vouchers shortly.

Here are the winning images again

1st place - Ayla and Ian at Kelmarsh Hall

I love spontaneity in my images. Just the 2 of them alone in such a beautiful setting with a low setting sun is a great image. But with the little bridesmaid on the left running into the picture makes this a winner. In particular I love the way she is lifting her dress, almost adult like, as she runs through the long grass. I do not pose couples either, rather just let them be themselves. So I love the way Ayla is leaning back slightly and the way her hand hangs loosely around Ian’s neck. And finally I love how Ian is standing so casually, hand in pocket. This was a real tricky shot to expose for with strong back light so it was therefore even more satisfying in capturing this moment.

2nd place - Lydie and Noah at The Bingham Hotel

Another spontaneous image which was taken by the banks of The Thames just before the reception. The strength of this image is its simplicity and the beautiful, natural expression on Lydie’s face. She looks so content and totally in love and its expressions like these I always aim to capture. This was taken in low light with my favourite portrait lens – the 135mm F2. This gives a lovely dreamy, almost painterly effect on the foreground and background.

3rd place - Frankie and Andy at Bray Cricket Club

Taken during the speeches, this is a simple story telling image. I love the intense expressions on the faces. I don’t know what Frankie’s Dad was saying but it certainly had everyone spellbound ! The lighting is interesting as well with the main source coming from behind them to the left giving a nice rounded look to the image. This is why I try and avoid flash as much as possible which would have completely ruined the atmosphere in this image.

With a week to go before voting closes I thought I’d give a quick update.

The clear leader is Lydie and Noah’s image, No 10, with 35 votes.

2nd place is Ayla and Ian’s image, No 22, with 31 votes

3rd place is Franky and Andy’s image, No 11, with 20 votes

4th place is Lisa and Dave’s image, No 18, with 15 votes.

So there’s still a week to go with plenty to vote for. The good news is that with over 100 votes I have today donated £100 to Haiti relief as promised -

Thank you so much for your kind donation of £100.00 to support our emergency appeal for the earthquake in Haiti.

We are really grateful that you have been able to help us because the earthquake in Haiti has left hundreds of thousands of children without shelter, food, clean water or adequate sanitation facilities. Without access to even the most basic services and supplies, childrens lives are in danger and they urgently need our help.

Save the Children has had a permanent presence in Haiti since 1985. We have approximately 55 staff including Senior Emergencies Adviser, Ian Rodgers already in the country. Six of our Emergency Response Specialists have arrived in Haiti and together with our in-country team are carrying out assessments to identify the families most in need of immediate help.

We are determined to reach as many vulnerable children as possible. Ian told us: Children and their families have been forced from their homes into an extremely stressful and dangerous environment. The priority now is to provide food, clean water, shelter and medical assistance to children and their families.

We couldnt prepare such an immediate response to this disaster without the help of supporters like yourself ,thank you!

If you would like to keep up to date on our progress in Haiti please have a look at our website www.savethechildren.org.uk/haitinews If you have any other questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0207 012 6400 or email us at supporter.care@savethechildren.org.uk.

Yours sincerely,

Jeremie Bodin

Head of Emergency Fundraising

So thanks again to all those who have voted.

Last year was absolutely amazing for me having worked in some of the most fantastic locations – Sudeley Castle, Dunkeld Cathedral, The Belvedere Restaurant, Kew Gardens are a few that come immediately to mind. Not only that but I’ve worked with lovely couples who give me complete freedom and place absolute trust in what I do. I cannot ask for more.

Just recently I was reminiscing and decided to share some favourite images. Below are 22 favourites and I have my own favourite 3 amongst these.

So I thought it would be interesting to ask you all to vote for your favourites as well. To do this just vote in the comments box at the foot of this post. The good news is that the couple with most votes will receive a £100 gift voucher. Second place will receive a £50 voucher and third place a £25 voucher.

The vouchers can be used towards prints from a previous wedding or portrait session. Alternatively they can be put towards the cost of a future wedding or portrait shoot. If the couple are unable to use the voucher it can passed on to a friend or relative.

Even better news ! I will also donate £100 to the Save the Children Haiti appeal But I want at least 100 votes first. So this is where you can help by passing this on to your friends and relatives. Get voting now !

The only rule I have is one vote per e mail address. The votes may not appear straight away as I have to moderate them first. The closing date is Saturday 6th Feb 2010. Click on ‘more’ below to see the images. You’ll find the comments box at the very bottom. Thanks for your help, enjoy !
