Many congratulations to Clare and Andrew who tied the knot at one of my favourite venues – Cambridge Cottage in Kew.

Here’s a sample of many of my favourites from the day which started with some preparation shots at The Petersham Hotel just a few miles away.

After shooting Clare and Andrew’s wedding at Cambridge Cottage in Kew I arranged to drive across town to take some engagement shots of Clare (a different one) and her fiance Tim who are getting married later this year at St Mary’s Church in Battersea. These were taken close to where Clare and Tim live in Battersea along The Thames.

You can see Chelsea power station in some of the images which is not as well known as its famous counterpart at Battersea but still interesting to photograph. But it was really difficult working in such harsh light particularly as the sun was beginning to drop. Perhaps another 30 minutes later and it would’ve dropped close enough to the horizon, what we call in the industry ‘The Golden Hour’ – perfect quality of light.

Nevertheless I am really pleased with these results. You sometimes have to work harder in these situations and at times this type of light can be used to your advantage. Anyhow some favourites can be seen below and please feel free to add any comments.

With Saturday, 10 July, being one of the hottest days of the year I was quite pleased not to have a wedding. Instead I had a busy day in the studio with families and kids. However I could not completely get away from weddings as Simon and Yvonne, who are very good past clients, came in for some pre wedding photography in the studio. They were actually getting married later that day and just wanted some formal type shots as a memory. These type of shots are always fun to do and are far removed from my usual documentary style. But having learnt my photography in a classical, studio style its always nice to revert back now and then. Below are some more favourites

Here are some favourites from an engagement portrait session in Windsor, Berkshire. This was of Anna and Kong and I’ll be doing their wedding photography at The Olde Bell in Hurley later this month. These are always fun and relaxed to do especially at a favourite location. As Anna and Kong both live in Windsor and the fact I attended a trade show there on the same day, this was an ideal location.

In fact the plan on their wedding day is to go for a short stroll around Windsor straight after the ceremony at The Guild Hall. This will be great fun and I’m sure the tourists will be snapping away like mad. So in a way this engagement shoot was like a warm up, rehearsal minus the white dress and suits of course. Many congratulations to Lowell and Alex who celebrated their Civil partnership on a really cool river trip up the Thames, from Hampton to Richmond and back. The ceremony was held at Weybridge Registry Office in the morning then back to Alex’s parents for a short, relaxing break before the boat trip. This was a really fun wedding to document and one we thoroughly enjoyed. Boat trips are always relaxed, informal and fun which is how it should be.

Many congratulations to Georgia and Steffan who tied the knot at St Mary’s in Hampton followed by a marquee reception just up the river in Thames Ditton. This was reached by a short boat trip which was ideal and an excellent way to enjoy the beautiful weather. This is how weddings should be – relaxed, fun and outdoors so guests and kids can really let their hair down and chill out.
